at Piano Magic, 78 Reade Street in NYC on June 3rd, 2005, for two sets starting at 8PM. This collective of improvisational artists includes renowned musicians Jackson Krall, Jeff Hoyer, Scott Curry, Albey Balgochian, Mark Hennen, Will Connell, Warren Smith and JD Parran.

“Noisetet … put up a wild sonic miasma that seemed to straddle jazz and rock concerns, reminding me at one point of various Miles Davis scrunch effects a la “He Loved Him Madly”. The sounds emitted by this aggregate were beautifully feral … dark, majestic strains of sonic shard complete with great post-Murray drumming, restrained-yet-out guitar playing and of course the horns/keys, the trumpet coming close to various late-sixties Ornette endeavors all coagulated together by some great arco bass playing. The final minutes of the show were the best, as Noisetet built themselves up into a frenzied coda.”

… Second Annual Cabaret Voltaire reading May 24th, 2004, at the Downtown Media Arts Center, Orlando. Deborah Atherton, Aldo Alvarez, Jennifer Greenhill-Taylor, Sharon Hoffmann, The Joseph Hayes Trio with Brian Groder and bassist Doug Mathews, Phil Deaver and special guests took over the new state-of-the-art digital performance center with readings, music and multimedia spectaculars!

… Brian Groder composed new works based on ancient themes for Joseph Reed Hayes’ play, A Little Crazy, which premiered at the 2002 Orlando International Fringe Festival, from May 10 - 19, 2002. The music, including the “Avram’s Dream” suite, took inspiration from Klezmer music and added Brian’s distinct style.

… Trumpeter Brian Groder brought his jazz quintet, Ancestral Tongues*, to the Cornelia Street Café on Friday, May 11th, 2001. In addition to Brian on trumpet and flugelhorn, the band featured Francesca Tanksley on piano; Andy McKee; guitarist Kevin Kuhn; and drummer Newman Baker.
